A total 968 patients with anal diseases, treated at the Kwang ju Tri-service Hospital from March
1966 to April 1971 were studied.
1. The incidence of the anal diseases appeared in the order of hemorrhoid (59.0%), anal fissure
(12.60%), anal fustula (9.61%), and perianal abscess (4.03%).
2. The predominant incidence was seen in 2nd decade.
3. seasonal distribution was predominant in Summer (289 cases) and Spring (265 cases).
4. The main clinical symptoms of the anal diseases were bleeding, pain, constipation, and foreign body
sensation.
5. Predilection site of hemorrhoid was right side of anal region, and fissure, fitula, perianal abscess
were seen in the posterio site of anal region.
6. Surgical treatment were done in 652 cases and conservative treatment in remainder.
7. Postoperative complications were pain, bleeding, heavy intractable infection, prolapsed skin tag, and
stenosis of the anus.
